Hi, I have discovered that my Great Great Grandfather was a policeman in Ireland in the early 1800's His name was Thomas Martin and we believe that he comes from Co Tipperary or at least was stationed there when his son, William, was born around 1856. We paid a visit to the records office in Dublin but can't find anything on Thomas. How would I go about finding where to start in Tipperary? I seemed to have spent hours and hours looking but not getting anywhere - can you help me at all please. Jo |

Unlikely as it sounds, the best place might be Kew....My gt grandfather was in the police force in ireland before coming here in 1870s. A relative found his Police record at the PRO, there is not much on it but worth having. |
