Thankyou for all your comments.
I have one very happy daughter and the wool I ordered has arrived this morning.
It seems to have been a popular pattern in its day as it is a bit unusual. I am going to have it laminated as its a bit tatty but still very readable.

SRS no just great minds thinking alike lol

I was surprised too, wonder what the odds on finding that pattern in a charity shop were?

Hope it turns out as you hope

oh my goodness, how lucky! I wouldn't have expected that.

Can I just say....well done for perseverance. It's good to know that it works sometimes :)

Oops Purple, I've just spotted that you've said virtually the same thing. I must have subconsciously looked down to the post underneath.

Hi, I have tried the suggested web sites but no luck.
Have heard from Sirdar who say that pattern is out of print and they have no archives.
So looks like dead end unless one of you good people have a copy to share.
Until then it looks like another treck round the charity shops.
thankyou to those who replied to my request.

I think I should wait as I had a problem when I was knitting for my baby grandson two years ago. The Sirdar pattern looked good but the instructions were rubbish. They accepted that it had been printed wrongly( no compensation), but in all fairness to them they did at least email me back with a reply, albeit long winded and second rate but once a pattern is found it is disappointing not to be able to complete.. Best of luck-Jle

Very helpful info.
Will give them a try and let you know how I get on.

Thankyou again.

You could have a look on this site or ask if anyone has it, I saw it in a magazine recently and thought it sounded interesting, money donated goes to Medicine sans frontieres.

www.p-hop.co.uk

It's Pennies Per Hour of Pleasure where people share patterns online

Good luck.

I've found the pattern on a US site with photo but it's not in stock:

Hi. Happy New Year to all.
I am trying to locate a knitting pattern by Sirdar in Snuggly 4 ply wool.
It is a cardigan and a jumper for baby.
The pattern number is 3844. The picture shows that the pattern is a sort of patchwork square design. I have emailed Sirdar but as yet no reply. Someone gave me the pattern because I loved it and my daughter is expecting twins. However, when I went to knit it she has only given me the front cover and she cannot find the rest. I will reimburse any costs involved or even be grateful of a photocopy if anyone can help.
Thankyou. SylviaG
