Hi Guys,

Today i was browsing through Yahoo, and i came across a message that i posted on Trying To Find in October when i was in Australia.

It had a link directly to Genes, can they do that??

I gave permission to a man to include some of my dads photos in a book he wrote on caravans. One of the photos has my sisters and I named. Recently I googled my name and came up with a web page with the mans photos on, all marked copyright, but I found a lot of people had copied some of his photos to their 'favourites', so the photo with our names appears in quite a few different places. I am wondering about the legality of it since the author had labelled the photos copyright.

Huia.

I was taken aback to find something I had on a Genes thread appearing on Google!

The Google topic was a particular surname, the Genes thread offering information on one particular census for that family, and as I had an ancestor of that family appearing on that census only in her married name I offered the information. Perhaps luckily, I for once didn't add it on line but said I would send further information by PM - though there was nothing particularly confidential about it.

You do have to remember always that nothing on the internet is private.
