I started by having a marrige cert which supplied names of fathers and the job that the fathers held. Then you can trace where they lived and who was in the house with them, who where the witnessess were they realatives and suddenly you have the beginning of a tree. Remember to record where you found the infpormation, check the years of birth and most likely plces for the birth to have been taken, look on the census, for example born oct 1881 and living in Lambeth then look at the 1891 census and see if they are still at the same address.
Finqally you will be so hooked you wonder if you have time to do anything else

Welcome to the madhouse! I would suggest you post this on the trying to find board............as you will probably get a little more help to start you off.

What year are you looking at concering the cert?

trying to find my family.. I have found a marriage document with the code for my maternal grandparents,........ what do I do next...this is very exciting but I am a bit overwhelmed.

can anyone advise
