Teresa,
have you been in this area before ? If not be warned the traffic around Lyndhurst is awful all year, either be prepared to detour or just relax and enjoy like everyone else has to do =0) Don't mention bypasses they've tried for years and always someone is unhappy.
If you haven't already go onto the New Forest website they have loads of information there for walks etc.
As Maggie said DO NOT feed the ponies, if you do they go to the roads later and get killed the roads are not fenced off; they are not half starved like they look.
The Motor museum is a must not just for the cars but the Palace house also ticket price isn't bad and if you get there late in the day you can come back next day for free - unless they've changed that now.
Bournemouth beach is great or go just along the coast to Weymouth.
Hurst castle is worth a visit try to take the little ferry boat if you're lazy if not walk the spit.
Go fossil hunting on the coast if you like.
Watch out for Adders in the forest !! In all honesty they are there they are deadly (in theory) but no one ever sees one as they hear you coming miles off . Go see the deers.
If you're into Sherlock Holmes go to Minstead church I believe Conan D is buried there !!
THE Alice in Wonderland is buried in Lyndhurst Church.
There's a roman villa near Fordingbridge if it's open (check before) can be a bit difficult to find follow directions they give.
Just relax and enjoy the walking/cycling/swimming/fishing.

Hi Caroline,

Thanks for all the information. It is really useful, especially about Alice, and the Fossils which our son will like. We like walking and cycling so it should be great. I will avoid the snakes and ponys!

Puss your son can hire a Tux for his hols, My OH did last time we went.
I have pmd you with some Ventura details.
The cruise we went on was to the canaries.
If your Son goes on only one exertion the one I would recomend is to the Volcanic Mountains in Lanzeroti (Grr cant spell it !)

It was amazing up in the fire mountains.

Teresa x
