The male does the singing , day and night but because there are few birds singing at night you can hear the nightingale and apparently in urban areas they sing louder to cover the background noise...it's quiet here but this one is singing his heart out bless him .

Now according to the RSPB on the link that Island has posted the nightingale doesn't return to England until April...did this one stay or come early? I'm used to robin song and there is a difference but unless I can see him tonight I won't know for sure .......

oh well whichever it was he sang a very pretty lullaby :)
