Hello all-

I'm based in Sheffield, and have just caught the bug of family research.

I bought "Macfamilytree" for my mac, and started to transcribe the work of my uncle and my father into it. I've got about 1000 names, and I'm now starting to find the stories that go with them.

I never realised how addictive it would become!

I've found that I'm a direct descendant of the Randells of Clovelly, and have been fascinated by the work already done by Brian Randell on the family.

I've quickly realised that just adding names to the tree, although fun enough, is like a jigsaw with an infinite number of pieces. I'm going to do some more detailed work on my direct ancestors I think..

Well enough for now - I hopefully will be directing some questions on the various forums - I've uploaded my family tree - including surnames: Powell, Plummer, Lloyd, Barker, Randell, Williams, Holliday, Blow, Griffiths, Evan, Tolhurst, Hewitt, Moxon and Morgan.. the list goes on..

Regards

John Powell

Welcome John, nice to see another man about - the others will be glad of your company. It is addictive - 20 years on and I am still trying to solve puzzles and put flesh on the bones!

Hi John,

Best wishes in your search.

My Daughter tuts all the time but she is 19!

I tell her she will thank me for all the research in later years:)

My daughter's 17 - I reckon it's about the age when their dad is the most "uncool" possible..

She wasn't impressed when I told her she was a direct descendant of "Thomazin Pugsley"!!
