Remember him? Just played "Wide Eyed and Legless" on Radio 2, don't half bring back memories of the 70's

Wifey had a crush on him and I was dragged along to see him at the Liverpool Empire. Even earlier, I remember her buying Paradise is Half as Nice by Amen corner on a 7 inch single and had to listen to it played about 20 times one evening. That's what you did with singles those days. Played the same one over and over again. It was quite nice actually as it made her all cuddly.....!

Charlotte Church's grandad was the bass player in Amen Corner - shows you how long ago it was.

AFL is actually an accomplished guitar player. I remember seeing a video of him with Eric Clapton and friends - he was sort of the band leader / conductor and played the famous riff at the start of 'Layla'

Wow. That was a blast from the past :))) May have to dig out my old 45's and check the stylus is ok on the turntable. The Dansette is well gone!

Didn't know that about Charlotte Church's grandad. We can still live and learn.

Yeah..remember them with affection, same as Love Affair and Marmalade also... .
Amen Corner were a Welsh group, I didn't know about the Charlotte Church connection tho.
AFL went solo in the 70's after Amen corner split.
I didn't have a 'record player' in those days used to listen to them on my small battery radio I had or in the juke box in the local cafe.
When I married we had a 'grand' Sony Hi Fi stack,.... long gone now since the introduction of CDs, but still have all my LPs , just a handful of 45's.
But often put the oldies up on the PC on You tube .

Oh more memories, a friend of mine went out with one of Love Affair in the late 60s.
I remember AFL, and the Tremeloes, think I saw them fairly recently in a show in a local theatre.

I just love all the old records and bands.

I didn't know about Claudia Blakley and Charlotte Church's connections.

AFL lived in Dulverton Ave Llanrumney Cardiff I lived in the same street, I used to go with my friends to watch them rehearse at the local youth club thnk they were called something like the Sect Maniac's at that time long before they became Amen Corner, oh for those long gone days !!!!!

We saw him with Roger Waters in Hyde park 2005 on the dark side of the moon tour.
I was impressed as I had no idea of his back catalogue (apart from Wide eyed) and the list of credits to his name.
