relative won MM in WW1 - it was awarded poshumously - he was kia September 1918 and it was Gazetted January 1919.

It might have been as much as 3 or 4 months before it appeared in the Gazette. The War Diary for his battalion MIGHT mention it.

I'm not sure of the answer to your question but there are WW1 Medal Rolls on Ancestry. Have you checked to see if he is on there? If you want to give his name I can check for you. Not sure if it will give a date or not.

My father-in-law won the MM for bravery in WW1.
The award was announced in The London Gazette in mid June 1918.
What was the typical time span between the act of bravery and it being announced in the L G, please
