Vista was a pretty awful system and was dropped PDQ to be replaced by 7 which is similar in many ways to XP.
If you don't want t run 7 in XP mode it should be pretty simple to get a snide XP disc.

Ta very much like IPG.

Just clicked on this thread to see wots wot.

The XP Option might well come in handy as since Sept 10 I've had new PC with Win 7 and my Epson printer (a good one) software ain't fully compatible with Win 7 and thus giving me probs. My foto suite Microsoft 2006 version ain't happy either. Even a couple of my old and first Memory Sticks wont open!! My old PC had Win XP

Apparently to do whatever they say on those web sites you need the ultimate Windows 7 and we have Home Premium so I guess he wont be able to do anything about it. Shame, he enjoys that programme.

I don't think Microsoft allow you to transfer XP from one PC to another. You have to buy a new licence.

However, there is another option which is worth trying. Windows 7 has a facility to run in XP mode for the very purpose of allowing you to run older programs.

Have a look here for more information and links to download the necessary upgrade.

or Google xp on windows 7

Maybe the best answer would be to contact Microsoft and explain the situation. They should not charge again as it is the same person playing the game. I find that some of the programmes are very expensive anyway. I found out that my computer screen would show some lovely full size pictures, quite by accident, and it makes me wonder if I did right by not going for the tv package as well.

It seems to me the more we know or think we know about them the more problems we get!!!

My OH is quite well clued up on the workings of PCs, one of his hobbies is playing 'games' such as Flight simulator. He recently had to change his PC and ended up with Windows 7 instead of vista. He also runs two screens

Eventually he got all the flight simulator including the scenery to load on the new PC but a submarine 'game' just wont load and is not compatable with Windows 7, with no patches etc.

He managed to attach his old hard drive to piggy back on the new PC (which he has done before) But now although the programme will run, even though it is his own old hard drive, he paid for and registered, the message keeps coming up that it is an invalid (i.e. pirated) copy of Vista. It seems microsoft don' go for recycling but want you to buy another copy of vista (approx £100) in order to be able to play one game. who are the pirates then?
