First They Came - Pastor Martin Niemoller

"First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist
Then they came for the Socialist
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist
Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me"

In memory of those who perished.

And honouring my mum's wish that the Holocaust never be forgotten, but remembered as a warning against letting bigotry and intolerance of anyone , based on their race, creed, colour, sexuality or physical or mental disabilty, become 'acceptable'.

Britain's Secret Schindler
8pm, Channel 5

In March 1939, Hitler broke the Munich Agreement and rolled his tanks into Prague, to where Jewish families had fled the previous year. Between April and August, a man named Nicholas Winton transported 669 Jewish children from Prague to London on specially chartered trains, while finding British families to take on every child. "I felt convinced of the dire necessity for something to be done," he recalls in archive footage, in a moving documentary that also includes testimonies from some of those he saved.
