hi .i never met my grandparents now deceased .know they were born in Warrington in the late 1800s and they moved to Brighton and Hove area .i have no idea when they moved but have the adress they moved from and the adress they moved to.in Brighton
can anybody tell me how i could get info on the when they lived in Brighton eg. where they worked when they moved ect had thought of writing to the adress but thought this not appropriate as they are long dead and have no surviving children
any tips if possable

Even looking for the childrens's births on FreeBMD to find out where they were registered will give a clue as to when your grandparents moved if some children were born in Warrington area but others were born in the Brighton area. That would narrow down the period to search on the Electoral Roll.

sorry for being late with thanks had to vacate computor as guests arrived.
thanks so much both their children were born in Warrington one being my dad.
know he had a brother who moved with his parents.
they must all be dead now as my dad if he was alive would be 102 as he was elderly when i was born
there was a big family falling out before i was born .
got documents that gave their adress both Warrington and Brighton but unfortunatly no dates .i suppose the electoral roll would be a start .could you give me an idea where i would apply would it be the town hall in Brighton .to far for me to travel so i would have to do it by post
what info would i get of this
thanks ever so much Keith

Is this your family in 1911:

Schedule type Last names First names Sex Birth year Age in 1911 District / other County / other Transcript Original page
HOUSEHOLD PITCHFORD ISRAEL SHEPHARD M 1886 25 Warrington Lancashire
HOUSEHOLD PITCHFORD RUBY MAY F 1888 23 Warrington Lancashire
HOUSEHOLD PITCHFORD ARNOLD M 1910 1 Warrington Lancashire

If your uncle Bernard moved with them perhaps it was because he was under 18 when they left for Brighton.

You could also do the same for the Warrington Address. Ask the library or Archives to trace tyour grandparents at the house until they disappear. Of course, it may mean they just moved within Warrington, although there are some trade directories which are searchable by name rather than address.

No ER during WW1. or WW2.

Directories such as Kelly's are worth a try
Many directories including the 1915 Sussex directory are online at
http://www.historicaldirectories.org
It includes a Brighton street directory that lists the householder at each address.
The Brighton Family History Centre will probably have directories that are not online.
