On my genes page if i put a name in the serch bar on the left hand side it will search for me . Sometimes the serach names is on the top on the right hand side if i put a name in this one and say serach all trees it will move me out of the genes web site alltogether. Anyone know why it is doing this or how i can fix this please its driving me mad

Odd! The search name boxes are all on the left when I've tried, and there shouldn't be any reason why you got re-directed elsewhere.

it isn't anything to do with searching records, is it? Not that I ever do on this site, but they aren't actually held on the GR Servers.

Unless someone else comes up with a suggestion, it might be worth contacting GR. You probably won't get a reply before next week.

Good luck

I'm puzzled too. So wot do you mean by "genes page"?

When I log in the first page which opens up is my GRU Home Page.

The search box is at top left under the site name"Genes Reunited"

I've just tried it, keyed in "Ron Betts" and clicked "Search"

It came up with a 'split' page. Left side states results for "Ron Betts" - this info relative to Fam Trees on the site.

Right side shows: "2267 Historical Records"

So I have a choice of looking at either solution and from the right side selecting which type of historical records I want to neb.

Hope this helps tho I have an idea the page I've quoted ain't the one you used(?)

sorry when i am in my gru home page the search box is at top left and works fine. if from that page i go to my family tree and want to do a search from here which is above my tree on the right ( under all the people that let you look at there trees)

as my family tree loads up my name is in the box who ever i click on in my family tree there name comes in the box. it here that if i do a seach from there names it takes me right out of web site.

Ah - I think I have the same problem.

From the left hand button at the top of this page, I selected 'Family Tree'.
My tree opened in a new window.
Then in the name bar on the Tree page, put in the name of someone on my tree who I know is on others, and used the ''Whole site' option.

This page turned into what should have been the results page, but was in fact totally blank. The web address (and I've editted with ** for the name)

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/tree/~/tree.page/results?surname=*****&forename=********&yearofbirth=

However, if I select 'Tree matches' shown under the persons name box (actually in the tree itself) the other open window gives me the contact options.

So I think it is a fault with GR. Lucky I don't use this function very often, but needs fixing. One email on it's way!
