I almost always have to use glue to stick them down AND i can remember when postage was cheaper if you didn't stick them down, you just tucked the flap in.

I had forgotten about postage being cheaper if you didn't stick it down.As for some of the self sealing envelopes............rubbish.I had to use sellotape the other day.The best self seal ones I had were M&S Christmas cards. They were brilliant.

I often have to stick down cards and self sealing envelopes.

I asked a postman when he was collecting from a pillar box if there is still stuff outstanding at our local delivery office - he said he didn't think so but I am missing more than 20 cards from people who usually send them out, can't believe they have all died or moved or decided to stop sending cards!

I remember telegrams I think, and also the tucked in envelope charges.

I remember working for the gas board having to stick down literally hundreds of envelopes at the end of each working day. They were placed on the desk each one covering the next with just the adhesive showing, then having to get a wet sponge and go down each row of envelopes. They definitely stuck down in those days we never had to sellotape them as it would have taken forever. I'd like to say 'happy days' but it was the most depressing place to work but, I certainly knew how to do every office job by the time I left.....including the post.-jle
