As a lot of you know about my brother and what he is battling with, l thought someone might know how l can help him................the problem is he is suffering badly with hiccups, they can last for hours and he even gets them at night so cannot sleep when he has them, the doctors have given him 3 different lots of tablets to no avail, his cancer nurse told him to try a spoonful of sugar, again no good and we have been on line and one site even said a spoonful of vinegar, again no good.
The doctors have no idea why he is getting them and as he hasn't got long left it would be nice if anyone on here had heard of someone in the same situation and did they have a cure for these blasted hiccups.
We have tried all the usual things they say to do but nothing is working and as he is so frail sometimes when he gets them he finds it hard to breathe.
Sorry if this is long winded, lol. but l said to my brother l would come on here to see if anyone can help.
Thanks for reading this and if you do reply l will keep checking, but won't be on here as much so will thankyou in advance.

Hi Mummo, one thing after another poor man.

You say he has tried vinegar, has he tried cider vinegar?

Another one is breathing into a paper bag.

drinking from the opposite side of a tumbler.

Have you looked on line?

Don't know what else to suggest but I hope somebody comes up with something.

The paper bag idea is good, but I cant understand the doctors not knowing how to control this. I had uncontrollable hiccups and finally had to call the surgery, back in the fifties, and the doctor came out with an injection for me, but I dont know what it was. I only know it affected the Vagus nerve, and I stopped immediately.
