Just had e-mail supposedly from HM customs and Tax re. refund. Was very suspicious so didn't open it. Checked google and it is definitely a phishing scam. Tax office does not e-mail anyone regarding refunds etc.
Thought I'd put out a warning as these scams seem to come round in waves.

Thanks Margaret always good to be made aware of these scams just in case we relax our guard.

Just to add to this warning..........HMRC never phone people to tell them they have a tax refund and ask for their bank details either.

I have received several of these over the past year, so the scam is quite old, but still a good idea to warn people in case they aren't aware.

Someone on here was done not that long ago after a scam asking them to confirm their bank details, which I gather is what this one does too, so you can't be too careful.
