Dear All

Hello

On 3 February 1959, three young rock 'n' roll stars were killed in a plane crash in Iowa, United States.

They were Buddy Holly, 22, Jiles P Richardson - known as the Big Bopper - 28, and Ritchie Valens, 17.

The pilot was also killed.

The three singers were travelling to Moorhead, Minnesota.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Buddy Holly had a huge following of fans with several hit records to his credit.

Riitchie Valens was the first Mexican American to break into mainstream music, after being discovered by record producer Bob Keane.

The Big Bopper had been a record-breaking radio DJ - with a 122-hour marathon stint - and reached number six in the American charts with his record Chantilly Lace.

Very best wishes

I was 11 and just started senior school so it was the talk of the school.
Chantilly Lace was a favourite of mine and I loved all the music of that era.
A sad loss to the music industry and to their families and friends.

I didn't know then what personal sadness this date would mean to me so many years later.

we (my wife to be,and I)were fortunate enough to see Buddy Holly Live at the East Ham Granada cinema.......

I went in the army in april 1959,just after his death, and one of his songs, True Love Ways was our favourite.........and still is........
