This was a long time ago before the days when electric kettles had bases. It just had a lead one end plugged into the socket on the wall and the other end plugged into the kettle. |

re the kettle switching on, I've had that a lot, but there is a reason for it. ( assuming it is a kettle on a base not a whistling one on the hob of course lol) . |

I once had a dream about my dad who died when I was only four. When I woke up I went downstairs to make a cup of coffee, always my first job of the day. The electric kettle was already very hot as if it had just finished boiling. I was the only one in the house. It didn't bother me but it may have done had it been in the night when it was dark. |

Dermot, I haven't read it all yet but my sister and I are both in my house, we both heard the kettle switch itself on and it is only 3 weeks ago that our Dad died. |
