I watched the local news the other night and there was an item about , a pensioner who ran up the road to stop a gang of robbers trying to raid a jewlery shop. |

It has been on TV several times now. What a woman, loved the way she battered them and even knocked one off his scooter/moped. I too hope she gets some sort of recognition, although i think she has said she doesn't want it. |

I personally do not think the lady should have been named and on Sky news they even showed her opening her front door. If it was my mother or grandmother I would be very worred. Thought what she did was couragious and she does deserve a medal but in this day and age not have her name shouted from the hilltops |

I can sympathise with her and would probably done the same thing. There were other people around who joined in when they realised what she was doing. You act instinctively in these situations, you dont care for your own safety, its only afterwards that the realisation sets in. |

In the paper it revealed that she has spent the past ten years fighting crime on her estate which used to be full of crack dealers and street walkers. There are hardly any now. She is already a heroine to the people of her estate, they say because of her they now feel safe. So she is no stranger to fighting crime. It also says that when she ran towards them she thought theyw ere beating somebody up and it was not until she reached them she realised what they were doing so decided she was not going to stop. And they were not young lads they were grown men and allegedly the bikes were stolen, or some of them were. |

Very Brave of her but a bit foolish,as said the jewelers would be insured for loss, she ( with sledge hammers around ) could have been killed or badly hurt. and with the way the law stands at the moment, its possible she herself could be done for ABH, and have to pay Compensation to the "Miscreants".**M**. |
