But i have to admit i am more into the unusual places not the typical tourist destination.. I am also a wheelchair user and will not let that put me off going anywhere in the world...... Any suggestions? i had thought of Iran,...

Gosh. You're brave! Even as an able bodied person, I'd have 2nd thoughts about there! Have you been able to suss out the facilites there?

If you are adventurous, how about Jordan? It seems relatively stable, and Petra seem out of the ordinary.

For western civilization, I was very impressed with San Francisco. Their building regulations and transport systems are really geared up for wheelchair users (although you would probably need able bodied assistance to experience the Cable Cars) In fact, most of California is great for that.

I have a very definite feeling that Iran is NOT for the disabled person ......... wheelchair access seems to be limited, and attitudes to you may not be what you expect.

I also would have second thoughts about going to Iran

I should say that I use a cane

I agree that access is a problem in some areas of the world... However i dont have to go abroad to be starred at or hear peoples remarks as i often hear them in my local area on a friday/saturday night.. I hadnt thought about Jordan...

I have not been anywhere much but I do want to go back to Namibia. I don't remember seeing a wheelchair there at all but, unhindered by health and safety,I know they would move heaven and earth to accommodate you.
