Know what you mean. I found my gtx3 grandfather s marriage in the parish records yesterday and I have been looking for years. The marriage record on my gt x2 grandfather had a smudge on the first name of the witness and I couldn't make the name out but the surname had been written in a distinctive way. By finding this record yesteday which was a marriage in 1804 I was able to compare the signature and prove that he had been the witness in 1829 at his sons marriage. |
