had to take cat to PDSA vet today and he was there last week and yesterday.

Bearing in mind you have to be on council tax or housing benefit to qualify, I was gobsmacked today at the cars people were driving, how do they afford them, we have a rusty old banger and cant afford anything better.

Maybe I am frittering away our money must divide the toilet roll up and allow them one square at a time.

It seems that once you know how to find it,there is a fair bit to be had.

I have put this before. My OH and I worked freelance for years before I became a carer for my dad.

If the work ran out we got by and went wherever necessary to interview for more, paying the travel costs. OH has had to claim unemployment benefit because he ran out of work completely for a time.We still paid for any travel for interviews until he happened to mention, when he was signing, that he was going to Hertfordshire the next day for a job and they asked him why he had not put in his claim for travel expenses earlier.

We do get help with glasses now but don't claim housing because my dad's council pension covers thr rent so we can't use the PDSA and the rat catcher costs twice as much for us as it does for the man next door.

When we had a cat from the RSPCA a few years ago they would not let them gp to people on benefits as the did not want them to be a strain on another charity.

Precisely PP. Anyone can use the local PDSA surgery, and have to pay if they do not qualify for housing/council tax benefit.

Incidentally, I know more than one person on the above benefits who cannot afford to run a car of any description. However, in both cases, an obliging parent has insured them to drive their own, rather nice, car, in emergencies.

Never leap to conclusions.

True Fiona didnt think of that

You have to pay the cost of vaccinations, ids, spaying etc just emergency that is a contribution of whatever you can afford.

And yes it more than one pet ours is 3 pets allowed

It makes me so angry when people take others pets to the P.D.S.A. I ran a Busy Bees group at our school for a number of years(have my name on the board at the Sheffield one). We raised thousands by running dog shows, raffles etcetc. One man who lived near school was very happy to tell me that he had taken a dog belonging to a school teacher friend of his to the P.D.S.A. on his benefit book, well you can guess how I felt.I now do the lottery I think it is the New York one £8 a month. We get council tax benefit but I do not go to the P.D.S.A because as I am still doing a few hours work I put money away to pay for my dogs, I do hope they are still there if I ever need them, not run into the ground by such lousy people who are in fact stealing from a charity.
