There was a thread recently on this, can't find it but in two papers this week I have read re trying to find babies and that as far back as 1937 a mother have been able to trace the burial of her baby. There were several cases like this. Apparently if you check with the hospital and see what burial ground they use - you can then check with the burial records. In several instances they were able to actually pinpoint where the little ones were. A home birth try nearest cemetery/local undertakers.

Thought it might give a ray of hope to anyone in this position.

SOMETIMES GOING TO A CEMETARY NEAR WHERE BIRTH WAS
THEY MAY STILL HAVE THE RECORD OF WHO WAS IN WHAT GRAVE
I WENT TO OURS 20YRS AGO AND MANAGED TO FIND SOME BURIALS
IN PAUPER GRAVES
UNFOURTUNATLY MY TWIN WAS NEVER REGISTERED SO I WILL NEVER
FIND HIM

Many babies were buried with other people and not recorded. I can't find brother because he was put in with someone else.

I have always been loathe to to get involved in this topic but...

In 1950 I trained as a midwife at a well known London Maternity Hosptial and stillborn(unbaptised) babies were,as Phyllis says,put in with someone else-the comment being that way they did get a Christian buriel

These articles also mentioned the fact that even if they were (as usually happened) with someone else they could be traced. One lady found her little one in with 3 other little ones. Liz will put this on your thread.
