I heard them talking about this on one of the breakfast time programmes, but unfortunately for some reason it didn't record.
I intend watching the other programmes though.

It was interesting to see the older gents really engaging with the youngsters. Did they include the chap playing his harmonica and sharing his love of music? This excerpt was shown at the morning-time interwiew.

Yes - the young began to interact with the elderly and vice versa.

One lady had been a concert pianist, one man (think it was he was completely paralysed and could only move his eyes) had invented the electronic calculator and another - the Matron showed the young black boy his file as they were not connecting at all, she asked him had he seen the film The Great Escape as this man was a pilot who was shot down in Channel in 1942 was in Stalag and became the forger for the escape documents and OH thinks he was portrayed by Richard Attenborough in the film.

The other young boy had a jamming session with an elderly man in his house whilst he played the harmonica. That would have brought a tear to anyone's eye. Continues next week.

There should be more interaction between the young and elderly because each has so much to offer the other.

I watched this tonight with a tear in my eye when the pair went off go-karting and the lady in her seventies who decided to surf for the first time.

Next week the teenagers each take one oldie home with them. It is good the young and old are confiding in each other and discovering qualities they were surprised to find!

Good and sympathetic viewing.

l could'nt sleep so played on pc for a while and saw this thread.......
l've just watched the first episode (had it in my favs & forgot), brilliant, can't wait to watch episode 2.

It was on bbc 2 Monday evening at 9pm, the third and last one will presumably be next Monday.

It was good to see the young people understand the oldies more and build strong bonds with some of them too. Will be interesting to see next week's when they take their new friends home.


I think it has been a good programme and hopefully young and old have watched it and realised there can be links between the extremes of age.
