Can any one tell me where to find WW1 record,s please.

5 of my mothers 6 brothers fought in the war and I would like to know which regiments etc they were in. some were soldiers and at least one was in the Navy.

I was trying to obtain my step-fathers records but I guess I will abandon that for the time being. Did get OH's fathers about 18 months ago but as you say it is costly. Also paid a private person to find my grandfathers army record only to find it on Ancestry about a year later.

There are good few on Ancestry but many are missing. If they were killed CWGC will show them.

You should find any records for men who joined the Royal Navy up to 1923 here, in the Registers of Seamans services. Each record costs £3-50 to download
