Hi Lisa
I have found an Elizabeth Pearce marrying Alfred Meredith in Wolverhampton in 1924.
I looked in the Free BMD - marriages - typed in Elizabeth Pearce. Assumed she married around 18 to 25 years so entered 1918 - 1930.
I found her marrying someone called Meredith in 1924 Wolverhampton.
I went back to the page where you put the information in and cleared the boxes and entered the surname Meredith with spouse surname Pearce.
This gave me Alfred Meredith marrying someone called Pearce in 1924.
Here is the information from the site.
Pearce Elizabeth J Meredith Wolverhampton 6b 1417

Meredith Alfred Pearce Wolverhampton 6b 1417
This was the only one around that time in Wolverhampton and if your Elizabeth's middle name is "J..... then this could be the one.
Hope this is ok. If my explanation is not clear then please let me know.

Not entirely sure what you mean Lisa?

Do you mean because they will have changed their name on marriage? If so it will partly depend on how common their birth name is ...for example if you had a Margaret Arbuthnot marrying James Athelstan , it will be much easier than Mary Smith marrying a John Jones to trace!

You will need to pin down as much as possible where and when any marriage was likely, fathers name and occupation is on certs' so that can be checked against census etc...

Freebmd is a good place to start.
