One of the cheapest fuel suppliers is called Ebico, unlike some of the bigger companies they are not driven by profit for share-holders as they are a non-profit company. Saved my mum £600+ last year. Worth looking at.
Same price given to pay as you go "leccy key and gas-card" users too.

Looks like McB already gets gas and electricity from the same supplier-hence the double bill!
When you're used to paying a bill one way and they then decide what's 'best' for you - you can guarantee it isn't!!

Talk Talk decided in August last year to take my money 10 days earlier than ususal.
Unfortunately, unless you were on line looking at your bill at the time-you didn't know. I was on a camping holiday.
Came back to find I owed the bank £30 for an 'unauthorised overdraft' of at the most 10 seconds, and Talk Talk £7 for not paying!!
10 days notice of change of date may be legal- but it's not practical!
Both refunded my money - but for some unknown reason, and without notice TalkTalk are now taking my money out on the original (pre August 2010) date!
Tried to e-mail, but as I was a Tiscali customer originally, I can't -and I don''t fancy ringing them. I also prefer the date they take it out on now -it was my original choice.

I echo all that Chris has said.

Shop around on the comparison sites for the best deal. You will almost certainly get a cheaper offer. Then go back to BG and tell them what you have done.

If you play your cards right you might get an even better deal from them.

McB - if you get both gas and electric from one supplier it usually is a cheaper rate and also as Shirley does - brings it down even further. Always check the comparison sites as suppliers do not always inform you of the cheaper rate you could have. I discovered this some 5 months ago with E-On and rang them - they switched me to a lower tariff.

Here is Aus. my daughter gets a combined gas/electric bill. She finds it easier to budget if she pays some money towards it every week and then when she gets the bill it's often reduced by quite a lot. Just another way to budget.

Have very kindly sent me my gas bill, along with a flyer leaflet telling me that i will in future recieve a combined gas & elec bill so only one payment, this they say will make my life easier,
Will it ****, i struggle to pay them separatly now but at least with seperate bills it can buy a couple of weeks time to earn a bit more,
I can see B/Gas getting half at a time.
