We went to visit our daughter in Leicester at the weekend and needed to put a couple of gallons in the tank as we were getting low. £1.41.9!!! Nearly screamed. Put in the absolute minimum and filled up at a much cheaper garage in Leicester. Still sweating!

Here in NZ it has gone up several times within the last week.

It is currently sitting around $2.15 per litre but it is expected to rise to $2.50 per litre. That is for regular unleaded. For Diesel it is about $1.55 per litre and we pay road user charges on top of the price of diesel.

I get the train to work so I don't have to worry about fuel so much but my OH is spending around $130.00 per week in fuel to get to work, he is doing 1000 kilometres per week.

This is really affecting families who have no choice but to pay as they need to get to work somehow.

Two supermarkets nearest to me are the most expensive petrol for several miles, Bloomin' liberty for low quality E10 petrol.
Unfortunately my favourite toy, an old Royal Enfield, won't go on diesel. Yet.

Nearest T***o was 130.09 at the weekend, but another branch is always a bit cheaper.
Local BP garage was 134.09 last time I looked, but haven't checked this week.

I seem to remember reading something about the Monday morning/Friday evening variation but can't remember what I read.

At the bottom of our road, the prices are up and down like a yo-yo! I'll drive past at night and it might be 127.9 a litre for unleaded but by the next morning they'll be 130.9 a litre, which seems wrong to me - plus, I swear they are higher on Monday mornings than on Friday evenings. Lately, it seems to be quietly creeping back over 130 again . . .

One garage near us does seem to be sticking to around 128.9 a litre, though.

If you get yourself a diesel, preferably without Lucas injection, you can most likely fill up with cheapo £1 a litre vegetable oil from the corner shop. Even cheaper still if you get a bookers or farm shop acct.
All diesel contains about 10% of veggie oil anyway and most diesel cars will run quite happily on a much higher percentage.
