Hi all,
i wondered if you would be kind enough to help me again with working out what a census says..
I am looking at the census of 1901 of Charles Bird, location Birmingham Aston born 1899. I cannot work out what the head of households occupation was, can anyone help please...
Also could someone please do me a 1911 lookup for charles please,

I can see head of household as being a Jappaner ( ie.varnisher ) and Gilder.( who decorated books with gold leaf.... very interesting occupations....

Thanks everyone for answering-x- For some reason I was reading it as jail yammer for women..lol...never mind sometimes I just can't make them out.But thankyou for the look up and clearing up my confusion :)

Wondered if you could help again with this family, I am trying to find either Henry martyn Sherwood Bird born 1828 (+/_1) in St Johns, worcester married to
Emma jane Newton Born 1833
I have found them on the 1861 census living in Birmingham st thomas , he doesn't state st johns for birth place on this one though he states Stafford , I can't read where she is from.

or Thomas Bird married to Sarah bird of Adbaston farm, Staffs( Henry's parents, so about 1800-1810 for births I would think)


I know its vague , but hope someone may have other avenues to suggest .I have tried igi and freebmd but to no avail, any suggestions ,

Another quick thought if i can, on trying to search for the marriage of thomas and sarah i came across one for Thomas Bird and sarah pownall In st johns worcestershire, 1828 .The reason why this one sticks out for me is that the grandchilds middle name was Pownall, do you think this could be the reason why such an unusual name was used in this way , its around the correct date aswell ?? Do you think this may be the marriage ?
