Thanks guys.

I think her birth would have most likely been registered in the district of Bedwellty. I am unsure as to her year of birth, maybe around 1901-1907?

She married Ivor George Morris also of Bedwellty in 1927.

Is that any good?

Her father's name would be on the marriage cert. And the witnesses name sometimes gives a clue.

Getting her marriage cert may hold some clues. It will give her age at married as declared so that may help too.
As Jax has said if you want to give some details we can take a look and maybe throw some light on it all.

maybe she was illegitimate but her mum married a Powell after her birth so the assumption was that Powell was her birth name

I am hitting brick walls with the records i am looking up on here. My great grandmothers maiden name was Powell. Thats what the rest of the family have always and only known but i have discovered that she registered her maiden name as Jones on her childrens birth certs which was her mothers maiden name. So i think somethings gone on there that no one knew about, but i cant find a birth for ellen jones or ellen powell around the year we think she was born! Very irritating. Anyway i am thinking of ordering the marriage certificate when she married my grt grandad Ivor where she also went by Jones. Would the information about her parents be on the cert? And where is the best place to get these from? The Home Office charge £9.50 each. Is this the best option?
I look forward to your help.
