I hardly ever sign out

even if we go away for 5 weeks ........ the computer is turned off of coruse, but I am signed in on all my sites

If I went away for a year .......... would that still show me as logged in?

Can only agree with both comments, but not sure what can be done about it as really the messages are simply a request,
I do recall some years ago I sent a message to someone who had not replied after quite some time and a few weeks later i had a reply from her husband to say that his wife had died suddenly and unexpectedly...you can imagine how I felt.

And then there are the people who open your message, but don't reply. They no doubt have perfectly good reasons--it's not their relative that you've found, they are very busy, they are ill, they don't quite like your tone of voice, they think you are up to something--but it is very frustrating.
The people who aren't logging on and don't open the message are understandable. But why join this site, and then decline to respond to messages?
How about a sign next to a person's name saying: "Gone shopping!" ?

Why oh why can't GR just put a "Last logged On" next to a members name?
Not to the day but for example the Month & Year.
I have so many sent messages that remain unopened & if I had known they hadn't been on the site for 6 mths or more I wouldn't have wasted my time & energy contacting them.
It cannot be a difficult thing to do & it would help us as members.
There is nothing worse than sending a message in the hope that it's a relative & a link with missing/distant family to then have no response.
I hope the Powers that be who run the site will consider & implement this facility.
