...have to admit I find it a wee bit embarrassing when the stock of my favourite 'falling down' water is low.
It's on the bottom shelf - and of course the last few bottles are at the back.
I must look a bit desperate as I get down on my knees, and the top half of my body disappears into the shelving unit!!

At 5 feet one inch, I seem to have a problem in most shops and the having had two ops on one of my knees kneeling down is not easy either,,,,my solution is usually to ask another customer or one of the staff and normally I find the younger members of staff very helpful,

What I really need is knew knees and a longer body!!

As well as things being too high and far back on the shelves, I usually have a problem with things being low down and the last items being right at the back of the shelves. Milk is often one item and I usually have to ask a more agile fellow customer or find an assistant to get the item for me. If I knelt down I probably wouldn't get up again unaided and also if I reach in and down too far it causes neck and shoulder problems so that I am in pain for hours later.
Great excuse for not cleaning the oven too lol

It does make you wonder, doesn't it - if the staff need a stool to reach the top shelves, what do they expect the customer to do?

maggie, in my kitchen i cant reach the top shelves of my cupboards without standing on a chair and that sometimes is painful for my kneees climbing up. so i have a really useful tool for bringing forward packets of say soup, rice etc by using a fish slice. i can get around the back of the packets with it enough to get hold of the front of said item.

i am 5ft 4 and do have a problem in my local supermarket also. why do they think we are all over 6ft?

the worst time is at xmas when then "pile them high" to get more on the shelves. it actually puts me off if i have to look up that high.

have you ever noticed though, the very things that are sometimes up high are beetroot, pickled onions etc. imagine if i knocked that off. what a mess with the glass and the vinegar would smell terrible.

good of t***co to send that though. shows that they are listening, not all do.

actually I have the same trouble......and look for those little stools on wheels that settle down when you stand on them........some in sainsbrys have "staff only" on them............gotta cover themselves aint they?

I did look around for one PH - but I suppose there would be H & S implications in that!
I can't reach some of the bread in our local S*insb*rys, so I find a baguette and use that to pull the bread forward -then put a very battered baguette back!! LOL

They could have sent you one of those minny step ladder's so that you can reach it next time!! Good o'l T*sc*'s..........:>))

On 12 March, I went to the local T*sc* superstore - I don't go very often,as I need a lift.
Whilst there,I usually buy 4 litres of unhomogenised Channel Island milk, and freeze it.
It's on a very high shelf, there's usually not much left, and,of course, it's not at the front, so I got hold of one bottle(they're plastic) and used this to knock the other bottles to the front so I could reach them.
Checked one bottle-sell by date 18th March.

Once my 'lift' had left, I started pcking the shopping away - only to find one bottle of milk was dated 9 March! I could have taken it back - it would have involved a 2 mile walk or a bus fare of at least £3. The milk cost £1.03.
Instead, I complained on-line.
2 days later I had a phone call - very apologetic lady.
I pointed out the Health & Safety issues of ridiculously high shelves
(I'm 5'4,my 'lift' is 5'9 -and he has trouble reaching the milk too!), and questioned the ability of the staff to reach the shelf- hence the out of date milk.
2 days after the phone call, I received a £10 money card from them!!
