LOL Gwyn, I even have the headline to the newspapers worked out: 'Granny of 3 kept hostage for 2 days by Gas servicing company'!
I was sort of kept hostage - if I wasn't there when the engineer called I was to blame - even if the admin lied Therefore I was unable to get on with my normal life, and was unable to move from my house . Couldn't even go into the back garden in case they came.

You tell 'em Maggie!
I'm very placid usually, but I would be so cross at their inefficiency, ...and then the cheek to imply you were to blame for broken appointments.
Your time is worth too much to be hanging around for them.

I'm begining to sound like a serial complainer-but I'm not!
On 6 December, at 10am, Kinetics were due to service my boiler,so I took the day off work, intending to take a friend for lunch,as it was his birthday, and go Christmas shopping. At 11am, no-one had turnedup,so I phoned. Iwas told he would be there within the hour-he wasn't. I hung around until 3.45,when my friend took me food shopping. Got back at 4.45 to find a message on my phone-all bookings had been cancelled!!!
Re-arranged the service for a Monday in January, again at 10 am. Took another day's leave, with an agreement that I would probably go back to work in the afternoon. Had a phone call at 11am,informing me the engineer was running an hour late - no going back to work then! He never turned up.
I e-mailed the council to complain - they'd employed this firm.
The next day, there was card through my door, saying the engineer had called, and I wasn't in.
Thursday I received, along with a card saying I had a recorded delivery letter to pick up - that would have to wait until Saturday - there was a letter from the council - one they apparently send everyone who fails to be in when they have a service appointment- threatening me with reposession if I fail to be present for my next appointment!
I again e-mailed the council explaining that I wasn't in as I had no appointment, had already lost 2 days leave thanks to Kinetics, and, strangely, my sole aim in life wasn't to hang around waiting for non-existent engineers to turn up, neither was it to be given false information by admin! I also told them I was disgusted at the tone of the letter!!
Friday evening I had a phone call from a head honcho at the council apologising for my receiving the letter.
I called Kinetics to find out when I had had appointments-apparently the only one they had on their system was the one when I didn't have an appointment, and one in the future!! Strange that, as one of their admin had called ME on the second appointment to say the engineer was late.
Oh -and on Saturday, I trudged 2 miles in the rain to pick up the recorded delivery letter-it was a copy of the threatening one from the council!!
This time I sent a letter, plus copies of the e-mails I'd sent to thecouncil to both Kinetics and the Council. I was avery angry bunny. 2 days leave lost and an hour on a very wet Saturday morning wasted because of Kinetics inefficiency!
I kept the appointment they'd made for me on a Friday afternoon. The young lad who obviously drew the short straw looked terrified!! LOL
Anyhoo, I wrote an offical letter of complaint to Kinetics. Hadn't heard anything after a month, so sent the same letter, with covering note, by recorded delivery.
Last week they sent me a cheque for £25.
Shame they'd tried to ignore me, because 2 days after their letter, I received the £10 for the loss of a £1.03 pint of milk from T*sc*.
Now, even on minimum wage, a whole day's work is worth a lot more than £25 - and I lost 2 days.
