That;s the thing isn't it Kay, that so often it is family members who actually get rid of the stuff in the first place because it holds no interest for them.

Kay????

As the medals I have are numbered and named, Ive also got the service records to match and been able to trace them on census ,BDM I wouldnt put that on here as they can fetch a good price as a set of 3 or more..I would hate for someone to lay claim and they have no connection at all,so I'll keep trying to find a link via here or elsewhere.

I am still waiting for a grandaughter listed on here I belive to claim her grandads I have.such a shame they were dumped at an auction house though by I'm sure a family member?

Hi Bridget, it would be useful wouldn't it? Kay and I obviously have items picked up at auctions etc, and Dizzi put a post up recently. Will have a think...or if anyone has suggestions please add?

Carol, one of the things I would be loath to sell simply because it was a bargain buy and I love the colour ( rose pink) is a 'Cube' teapot :)

My collection of tea pots no longer on show now stored in the shed, there is about 40, some are of some value, ie original Bunny Girl, Ronald Reagan, Jockeys,Christmas Pudd ect.

I wonder if it would be possible to have a separate Thread just for the sought of Items that you and Kay mention. I have wonderful photo of a serving soldier but no idea as to who it is, and I find that sad, It was on a box of bits & pieces that I bought some tome ago for the glass wear.
Not sure now I think about that we would be allowed by GR to do this, maybe someone could make an alternative suggestion

That's nice Kay, and you've reminded me...not medals, but a framed , illuminated 'presentation for 30 years service' to Birmingham Gas co , I bought in a lot at auction. I have tried to track the family on here and did get an initial reply but nothing since. It is such a great piece of family history for someone if the trail can be found!

Rose Ive tried many times to pass on ww1 medals to traced family but they dont answer,,,,and I know many groups I have fetch abt £70 --£120 a set but they deserve to stay wih me and be treasured.

Well I've put them on, but if they don't sell I won't mind :)

There are some things you just can't get rid of though aren't there.

Oh Rose,,they wont fetch what they are worth to you.I coudnt part with family stuff.

I have oodles of dead peoples stuff that isnt family, been picked up at auction and know they would fetch ££££s but I cant part with them.

Well I don't expect it would fetch anything but my Dad's silver and wooden crucifix; It must be over 200 years old and I wouldn't part with it for anything. Anything else I possess I could abandon without a backward glance. If selling those bangles will cause you grief, don't do it Rose:-) BC XX

I know what you mean. I have an old American Civil War cavalry saddle with wooden stirrups. It has been hanging up in the garage for over 20 years!! I can't use it, no horse now and don't think I could manage to climb up on one any more. The stirrups were sent to me by an american penfriend in her 80s over 45 years ago. It seems like a bit of the 'old' me that is still around. lol

But oooh I am hesitating over the two 1950s plastic bangles... I can't wear them but they were there when I was little ( mum's jewellery box lol) and it is a 'wrench' lol.

What do you have that you know you should sell but 'can't'?
