We have a wet room due to husbands disabiliy and we both use the bedroom to get dressed.
We donot have a lock on the door which is a sliding one as OT said it wasn't advisable just in case OH fell.

At home,get dressed in my bedroom,but when camping,leave my tent-caravan wrapped in a towel,and return likewise,lost all inhibitions while camping in Europe.

Re locks on bathroom door,mine won't even close due to my OH's brilliant carpentry........Not.

Well, it seems unanimous, dont dress in the shower room! We will have to change our habits! Thanks to all who replied, some good tips there.

Jean, you could get a thick rubber mat (with gaps) or one of those slat things to stand on in the bathroom, and have a plastic chair to sit in while you dry your feet.

I agree with Bob, at least in the summer. I run around the house in the altogether when it is hot (well, walk, not run).

Persey, my OH used to come out into the lounge to get dry in front of the fire or fan heater in winter. Or just get dry in the summer.

If I am going out I get dressed in the bedroom. Also in the winter if I am not going out.

ps, it is very hot at the moment. The fan is on, and that is all that is, apart from my glasses! Just as well you cant see me.

...another advantage of crocs, is that they are relativley non- slip,can be washed, and are amazing for 'bunching up' cat fur (and probably dog hair) on carpets,so you can just pick it up in a wodge.

I have a very small bolt on the bathroom door - always have had.
As my bathroom is between the kitchen & living room -a certain amount of privacy is needed!
However, it's very easy to push in - as is evidenced by the number of times it's been moved - thanks to my argumentative teenaged girls, years ago!!!
Mind you, as I live alone I have no idea who would push the door in, and unless I have visitors, I don't lock the door!

I dress in the bedroom.
As for the problem of wet feet and footwear, I wear fake crocs instead of slippers. Ideal for a wet room I should think - extremely comfortable and they only cost a fiver!!

seriously. I too have a no locked door policy,,,,,,,,,if I collapse in the loo. I want someone to be able to find me.....now,.......not five days Later....

At home, we all get dressed in our bedrooms, wandering around first in towelling dressing gowns to help us dry faster.

An old uncle has a huge bathroom so there is plenty of space to put clean dry clothes while you shower. He has lots of bath mats to stand on.

In the bedroom definitely. And our bathroom has a safety lock that can be released from outside with a screwdriver or similar. Very useful when small children lock the door! And can't unlock it.

I had our shower room door altered so it opens outward into the bedroom, as my husband is disabled, I thought it would be better, then if he has the misfortune to have a fall at least I can easily access the shower room.

Just a wee note regarding showering at Sandies, she will be hovering around waiting to clean it after you. She cleans her shower at least twice a day. LOL

We don't have a 'lock 'on the bathroom door , such as bolt or key,.... it can be 'locked' from the inside so that the handle cannot be used if some one tries to go in when it in use, but the 'lock' can also be turned from the outside if there should be a problem... just a door handle mechanism.

Always in the bedroom, where in the winter my clean clothes are warming on the radiator!! lol

Chris.....we have the same rule as daughter when younger had a fit in the small cloakroom/toilet and we could not get to her, just heard her crashing to the floor.....awful!

Just a comment about locks on bathroom doors. We have 'safety' locks on our bathroom and loo doors. If we needed to get in we only need a knife or screwdriver to unlock the door from the outside.

Towel robe on in bathroom only...., safer and not steamy in bedroom.

nope my bathroom is very small carnt even swing a cat in there not that i would want to swing a poor cat

I was recently staying at a camping ground (in a cabin) I found it quite awkward in the shower room - clothes had to be hung on hooks etc, there being no bench to put anything on. I took my clean knickers and bra in a bag to hang on the hook, then when I took my glasses off could put them in the bag. It wasn't easy balancing to dry ones feet etc and then get your shoes back on.

I stayed at a place in Tasmania and the showers were across the field - the floor was concrete and whilst there was a little bench in the cubicle I managed to drop my knickers on the floor and they were soaked. It was a great start to another day travelling.

At home - in the bedroom thanks.... though my OH will get dressed in the lounge whilst watching TV.
