Only guessing but I wonder if 'straight to grave'means a burial only, no service.

I think 'conversion' can mean that the burial plot once belonged to another family; after a certain numbe rof years, if no-one else is buried there, I think it can be reclaimed and used for other burials.

Yes, that's absolutely right. People often held plots on a lease; if the family chose not to renew when the lease expired, then the plot was released for others.

Janet. Fiona Anin
thank you for replys .i know they are all family members in the plots .so it is not a case of of it being reclaimed
it could mean no service but i find it strange as they were strong religious people .
i will have to try to find out if they had a service or not dont know how yet but will try to find a way.
both graves found are full but with of the same family members .

Have you asked at the cemetery? If there is no office you could ask at the cemeteries department of the local council.

Hello. have solved it .the council gave me a phone number.
the conversion next to some names simply meant they had changed their information to all records computorised.
they put conversion next to names when they thought there may be details of the person missing on the data.
i put this on in case somebody else is wondering about the meaning .
thanks for the help
regards Keith
