Hi everyone,

Hope you have all had a lovely day.

Am just after a little advice. I am thinking of getting a e-reader and wondered if any of you had them and what you think of them. What are some of the better brands, best access/selection of e-books etc

Annie, I have an ipad and can download books onto there and some i have to pay a small price and others are free, However I know that two of my sons have the one I am placing on here and they are very pleased with it.
I woould noot be without my iPad!!

Kindle 3

Manufacturer: Amazon.com, Inc.

Pros: The size, the speed and the quality of the Kindle 3 make it second to none, it defines eBook Readers of today.

Cons: The free Wi-Fi capabilities are at times slow and unless you connect to a wireless network, Wi-Fi is only provided in certain AT&T hotspots. (This relates to the UK)

The Verdict: The Kindle 3 is the top eBook Reader available on today's market, it is easy to use and provides the best quality we have seen in an eReader

I have had a brief look at the kindle on amazon.com, but know that there are several other brands as well. There was a thread on this topic once before but I couldn't find it so thought I would start a new one : )

I have had my Kindle for some months and I love it. Got a purple purse to keep it in so it is always in my bag when I go out, been a blessing at times when at hospital or dentist!
Most of the books on it are free, small charge for others, also you can get books from other sites not just Amazon.

If you buy the dearer Kindle of the two on sale, Amazon pay for the Wifi (I think it is something to do with using the same signals that mobiles use but don't quote me. Anyway, without attaching the kindle to anything, you turn the kindle Wireless on, you go to Amazon, order the book, pay as you would for a paperback and within literally 3 minutes the book is on the Kindle.

I have found plenty of choice on Amazon and with the Kindle I can download even when in Europe. I believe with Waterstones you have a problem in Spain. Also there is a way of downloading from other places and converting to the kindle but I have not needed to do this.

Another plus for me is somehow and quite legally my daughter who also has a kindle has been able to set up a share system whereby we can each read each others books.
