Hi Liz

I think this book cost about £30 and there is another offer to get 10% off a duplicate which I would like to do because I made a slight mistake. It has a dozen or so pages and I have managed to display about 55 photos, some large some small but all with a brief outline of the person, location or event. I suppose it isn't really cheap but I am thrilled with the result.-jl

Sounds lovely Janet, but very expensive I expect. I must try and get my photos and info in order, altho my son is not very interested at the mo, he will probably do what I did and leave it too late to ask me things, so if I leave it all sorted and easy to follow he will be luckier than I was lol

I too was lucky to get some photos I hadn't seen of my Grandmother and great grandparents on my Dad's side, from other relatives I made contact with. One little lad looked just the way my own son looked at the same age so I was convinced that was my Dad as a youngster, till a cousin said Oh no, that's my Dad, this one is yours! Funny that my son looked more like his great uncle than his Granddad lol

I have just had a 'modern' photo album made of my family photos from 1870 through to the 1950's with everyone belonging to my family. Each photo has a name or a very short account to enable future generations to know their ancestors.
My son in law looked at the wedding party of my grand parents in 1896 and said that they looked like a group from the wild west!( being in sepia and cream) whilst I was quite proud of their finery. These photos are uploaded onto a website and then they post it to your home in this hard backed album. For anyone who 'has everything' at birthday and Christmas time it is a really rewarding present. - jle

Gwyn, perhaps he WAS the original Cap'n Birdseye!!!

Mark. yes, it's a 'hit the jackpot' feeling when you get new photos of rellies anyway, let alone photos of one so far back - lucky you!! And how great to be able to speak to someone who actually knew your g.grandfather......we others can merely pray for such a thing to happen!!

That's great Mark.

I know how pleased I was when someone shared photos of my paternal great grandfather with me...... A seafarer from Sussex. He looks just as if he's escaped from an old Birdeye frozen fish advert !
