I've got 3 cats, siblings, aged nearly 5 years.
Most accidents to cats & dogs happen at around 8 months to a year- by then they should be aware of dangers.
George is an all black (lucky?) cat.
At a very young age, he sprained his leg, thinking he could jump onto a windowsill.
At 10 months, he broke his jaw, whilst battling with a moving vehicle.
On about 3 occasions, he has been seriously beaten up by a local thug-cat.
2 months ago,he came home with a cut paw and missing dew claw.

He has just come into my room, tail up, purring gently (as opposed to purring in fear), but his black nose is now pink - not disfigured - just pink!
He's either put it up against something hot, a chemical, or some pink paint.
The kettle has been put on, I'm now waiting for the boiled water to cool before wrestling with him in an attempt to flood it with water, whilst tryng not to drown him! Oh- and I'll have to remove him from my bed first!!

I think George has been poking his nose in where it shouldn't be lol
I hope it's alright. It obviously doesn't seem to be bothering him .Good luck with the water.Rather you than me !

Hi Jane,
I had the inspirational idea of looking through my first aid kit and found a sterile cleansing wipe - that just consisted of sterile cloth and water.
Much less messy than boiled water.
I've managed to gently dab his nose twice.
I think there are 3 left - so more dabbing tonight.
If it's a chemical, I need to remove as much as possible.
However,it looks like he's either burned it or scraped it, so the more he licks it, the better.

I wonder if it will stay pink?

Is it just his nose? Nothing on his lips/mouth?Maybe it is just a bad scrape.I would have thought anything chemical would have affected his mouth too.Licking is always good so I believe. He does sound a bit of a Tomboy lol.
Do you have a vet you can just ring for advice(with no charge).I do hope he is alright Maggie.I am fretting here for you lol
There was something in my local paper last night about several cats dying from Antifreeze.OH has chucked the paper out now so I don't know how it happened.

Hi Jane,
Yes, it's just his nose. I was afraid of the chemical bit, hence the swabbing of the nose.
When he was on my lap earlier, I felt a few new claw marks, so perhaps he's scraped his nose whilst foolishly taking on a bigger, tougher (and it woudn't have to be very tough) cat. I swear if he was human, he'd be an interior designer.
He's eaten tonight and nudged me with his nose (that and 'teething' me is his usual way of showing affection). - after he'd nudged me,he sat still for a few seconds -probably wondering why it hurt!
He's not the sharpest tool in the box!!
I usually give my cats 3 days to start healing before I contact the vet.

George came home with his broken jaw in the early hours of a Saturday morning.
I took him to the vet on the Sunday (very expensive!) The vet diagnosed a broken jaw, accidently burst an abcess neither of us had noticed, and,as Monday was a Bank Holiday - told me to bring him back on theTuesday - by which time,George was happily eating dried cat food!!
Seems the abcess was more of a problem to George than the broken jaw!!

It seems to me that George is now a hardened veteran !

Cannot help feeling that he is a mog who I admire !

He is a boy .................. you will never hold him back
