Peter

Thanks for the question - no the page was not making any attempt to load.

I found out the problem this morning after another email from GR staff.

They suggested I clear my cache, using Tools/Options/Advanced and then in Offline Storage some 800 MB being used as Cache.

I cleared that and then I was able to access My Tree.

What a saga !

Thanks once again for the reply.

I have also thanked the at least 3 ladies who became involved with my total problem at GR Support.

That should work fine - it is the same set-up as I am using at the moment.

Is your tree making any attempt to load, or do you just keep getting the maintenance message?

Hi

I am new to using message boards so please bear with me. I seem to be having the same problem as mentioned here by Jan. Last Saturday afternoon Australian time (4 June) I received the screen that stated maintenance was being done and logged off the system entirely.

On Monday when I tried to log onto my Genes Reunited account, I had problems - being a 73 year old my memory is not as good as it once was! I worked out an alternate method of mailing Genes R yesterday (Wednesday) and they helped me with my poor memory.

I am using a PC with Windows XP and Firefox etc..

Today 9 June I hoped to be all go, but when I used Firefox to log in and requested my Family Tree - I received the Maintenance being done screen again! I read around and finally deleted all History entries for Genes Reunited. That did not help me.

My son, at work, saw your thread on Genes, and told me of it. I had a good read and then deleted my Adobe products and re-installed them.

I ran the Plug in check and the software stated I was using the up to date plug in. #10.3.181.22 So what more do I have to do to be able to open my tree with Firefox.

I feel like

I am missing something obvious but cannot see what it is.

Hi
Thanks to everyone for their advice. I uninstalled Adobe and every thing is okay now and the sites load up as they should do.
So I'm a happy bunny again!

Hi Piers,
Yes, it looks like that is what I'm going to have to do.
I'll have another go at the links above, then if it doesnt work, then I'll do as you suggest and uninstall them, and then try again.

Hi Jan,

I had a similar problem and found that it was necessary to uninstall the 'old' adobe, before installing the 'new one'. Now everything is fine. Failing everything else, might be worth a try. Hope you manage to sort things out :)

Thanks Mayfield and InspectorGreenPen for your help and tips.
I've had a quick go at it, and it still isnt working, but later on tonight, I'll read the instructions again and have another go.

I have been using Firefox V 4 now for nearly a year, originally as the Beta version, now the live release, with no problems at all. IE and Firefox require different versions of Flash. Also the Firefox Software Update feature does not automatically update installed plugins, so you will have to do this manually. Having just checked my Plug-ins, the Firefox Flash version installed is Shockwave Flash 10.2.153.1

For info on updating, see the Firefox Help page "Managing the Flash plugin"

http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing%20the%20Flash%20plugin

If you scroll down to Updating Flash and click on the link "Plugin Check" then it will check all plug-ins and tell you which to update. The Shockwave version I mentioned above is reported as being up to date.

Hi Jan,
I use Adobe Shockwave Flash ok with Firefox.
Have you tried going to Tools, Add-ons, then the Plug-ins tab. If you have been using it ok up to now scrolling down you should find your flash player listed, highlight it and click Find updates it will say if an update is available.

Good luck.
Mayfield
PS I still run Firefox 3.6.16 Have you perhaps upgraded to Firefox 4 it maybe there is an issue with the new version 4 I'm not sure if its possible to go back to the older one might be worth investigating if you have upgraded.

Hi,
Hope someone can help me with my problem please.
I use Firefox and everything has been fine until about 2 or 3 days ago.
Then all of a sudden any programs that use Adobe Flash Player won't work. It tells me to download Adobe Flash Player, which I do, but still won't work.
I've googled a bit and found out that Adobe Flash Player won't work on Firefox, but as I've found out, it still works on Internet Explorer.

The site I use on Firefox is Jaquie Lawson greetings cards, and I'd love to be able to use that site again on Firefox, without having to go to IE.

Does anyone have any idea of how I can get it up and running again on Firefox please?
