Could anyone please tell me if I could get hold of any information on line about a drowning that happened back in about 1961, it was a big story in the area where I lived at the time, and I was connect to the family.

The library local to the area may hold copies of old newspapers, or be able to tell you where they are kept.

Hi Linda,
Try contacting the local newspaper for your area, they will have an archive of some sort back to the 60's and no doubt covered the story.

If you know where (or the date ) event happened Lynn then the library in the area should have an account of newspaper article on file.

Thanks Mayfield and and Mau, It happened in Cornwall and I have been in touch with my scool friend whose late husband was in the same gang has this person so she is going to get in touch with her bil to get the information for me, has we where only about 11 at the time.

Try Google. I googled "newspapers cornwall 1961" and then had a look at the Cornish Newspapers CIP entry. This has a obituary section where you can look up names of people who have died in the county. You might be able to approach the task from this angle.

There is the British Library's Newspaper Archive in Colindale. north-west London.
