How long is a piece of string....? To some extent it all depends on personal preferences and where your area of research lies.

Personally I use Ancestry and find it is more than adequate for my needs which is primarily looking at English Census and BMD records.

Why not check out each of their websites and see what you get for your money, or, perhaps do a free trial?

I used FMP with credits when I started out, there are good aspects to it certainly.

I prefer Ancestry because I found it had a broader range of records...the LMA records in particular. If you have London ancestors it is worth it just for that.

As Joan says, check out exactly what is available for both first, to see which suits you best.

Have just spoken with both of them and its hit and miss really. FMP do not hold the parish regs looking for, but do hold the military, yet Ancesty hold more parish records but not the military records I want to few...............Very nice woman on FMP and had a great convo about the scottish census coming out today and yes they are soon to add scotts records to the site. It's a hard one and its very frustrating, Angeline x

And all money money money lol xx
