My son broke his elbow last Saturday and the local hospital does not do X-rays on a weekend so we had to travel 20 miles to the main hospital.
His elbow was swollen but they still took an X-ray of it.

Well that's why I thought the xray was delayed. Hope the visit of Granny will help keep little one occupied and more cheerful and that things aren't as bad as they might be when the xray finally gets done.

Don't forget the arnica.

I truely know what you're going through though to a lesser extent.
My son hurt his finger yesterday and we weren't sure if it was broken, so spent all morning at the hospital today getting it checked out. Even though it's still badly bruised/swollen they could tell after an x-ray that it wasn't broken thank goodness.
Hope your little Grand daughter is better soon.

A huge hug from 'grandma' will hopefully cheer up 3-year-old.

Poor girl - keep us posted on her progress. :)

Apparently, if a limb is swollen after an accident there is no point in them xraying, they wait for the swelling to go down to get a true picture of the damage. A week seems a bit too long to wait tho, maybe your family can take her back if the swelling goes down in the next couple of days. It would be sensible to try and keep her resting rather than trying to walk on it but I believe children's bones are still a bit soft at this age, maybe just an old wives tale, so once the swelling goes down and the bruising comes out they can see better what has happened. Some arnica will help the bruising if there is no broken skin, bless her.
