That thought just ran through me mind. Having been up since the crack of sparrers, because the dog jumped on the bed, I have already drunk enough tea to sufficiently irregate my kidneys, and don't mention the baccy. Lovely weather here again today, though a tad cool as yet, so, having done the Times crossword, I think I'll make moves to get out me jammys, and take a walk around my demesne, and see the order of work for today. As we have not had any significant rain here for about three weeks, I suppose I will make a start with watering, as has the OH down on the allotment already this morning, with his newly sprouted row of broad beans, and the fruit trees we put in last year, and doing very nicely. I heard yesterday that some areas already have a hosepipe ban. For Gawds sake, it is only the beggining of April, yet. I have been busy painting white, the rear wall of my veranda, in anticipation of those balmy summers evenings, when I can lounge there on the Rattan, with my Singapore Sling in hand, and envisage I am at Raffles. Well, a lady is allowed to have her dreams, after she has put in all that 'ard work. As a reward for the apparent 'remission' of my medical complaint, I am promised an Easter treat of, not an egg, as wouldn't do well with the diabetis, but, wait for it,............. two, not one, but two, tins of paint, for my beloved fences, one Country Cream for the main body and Willow, for the intricate fretwork. My OH, certainly knows how to bowl a maiden over. Well, no time to tarry. There is a hosepipe and a tin of paint with my name on it, just begging to be used. Julia, wishing she was at Raffles

Hello Julia,
I too am the painter of fences at my abode. When I get my dander up there is no stopping me....
I too am partaking of tea but just before my bedtime. I have toiled indoors and out today and am cream crackered.
Lucky you no rain - not good for the garden though.
Enjoy your day,
Susan
PS: what shade is willow?

Now that's a word you don't hear often :)) "Veranda" as in 'taking tea on the veranda' :) sounds lovely Julia.
As to what I am doing today, well i filled half a skip yesterday with old bits of fence panel which were lying around the garden, the old whirlygig line, and a lot of thick branches, so the garden is clearer and I have some compost to sow spring onions and lettuce in.
But, the house looks a tip..my favourite picture fell off the wall and down behind the sofa last night so there is glass everywhere to be got at, I need to go to the shops , and have to make phone calls for someone so that's going to take up the morning at least.
hey ho :))

Agh - thats the early shift done, now for a large mug of the roasted bean
Susan of The Land of The Long Cloud. I hope you have a good night's sleep after a long toiling day. Willow is a light green. I tried Sage, but it was too 'blue'
Rambling Rose, a woman after my own heart garden workwise. My house too looks as if it could do with a visit from a Whirling Dervisher, or maybe it already has.
I have just come in to rub over a few tee-shirts for the OH. He said a pack of dogs was following him when he came back from his first shift at the allotment. A touch of the lancashire Hotpots about him.LOL I told him in the week I had no time to slave over the ironing board now the gardening seasoning is here, and similarly over the Aga. Salads will have to be the order of the day, until further notice LOL
I noticed that as I was about my toil, my adjacent neighbours were still smouldering in their pits, by the look of the bedroom curtains. When I think of what my own gals have achieved and do,( they are of a similar age to the neighbours, and I can give them over twenty years), it makes my blood boil. They think that just because they go to work all week, their garden does not need any attention. Rant over.
Must away to my paint. Enjoy yourselves, whatever you are doing today

Every so often, OH and I drive somewhere that we have never been before but have always wanted to go.
We are about to set off for Winchester. It's about a 2 hour drive, but we'll go the country route to make the journey more interesting

Strewth possums, had to give up and come indoors. It's just like a Force Niner across the back garden. Thought I would have to lasso meself to the fence in case I took off. It's just like sailing through the Roaring Forties. I'm not very big, so it would not take much. See Merlin, good things do come in small packages. Blimey, having to finish work early, and the sun is not over the yard arm yet. ( That's navy parliance for the 'Happy Hour'.). That's a first for me. I hope Joanne in Burgess Hill had a lovely run to Winchester, and it was all she was expecting. Annina, your household sounds so much like mine, but I have managed to set some tomato seeds in little pots in the kitchen window sill, and after a week, they are through. JoyBoroDarling, I too was undecided whether to strip or not. The garden won, whilst the sun was shining. I lost a couple of Hebes in the winter on the front, and me Cordylines, and some Palms, in me tropical garden at the back. But, not to be daunted, and forever being frugal, I stripped off the dead leaves off the Cordylines, and wound some chicken mesh around the trunks, and will plant up some climbers. Just like Moss Poles. Glad Baby Saten is showing horticultural habits. You can't start them too young. Merlin Darlink, ah yes Raffles, one sighs for such delights. To use the navy parliance that you and the others slipped into on BC's thread to myself, I am afraid the knitting has had to be put into dry dock, for just the initial start of the gardening season. Later, when all is done, I shall take it, with a 'small' G&T, into the summerhouse, of an afternoon and resume matters. I did get your measurements, but I did not see young Master Robin, give his. Maybe he will soon come back to us, and fulfill that criteria. Well, must orf, and start to infuse my Korma for this evenings meal, and then, by 6.00, can make myself a darling Brandy Cocktail, ready to dine whenst watchig my lovely little favourite, Hugh Fearnly Whittingstall. He is making bread tonight. Agh.

Another nice sunny day here in the shire, today, if not a tad on the cool side. So, I will be doing more of the same that I did yesterday The OH looking a bit peely-wally with all the salads he has had to endure whilst I am working out doors, so will cook a nice roast beef dinner tonight, with all the veggies coming from the allotment. Have a good one all Julia in Derbyshire
