Hi Elaine,
I should have mentioned you can drag the little yellow man on the zoom bar to any position you want on the map to view the street view in the displayed area, assuming that road has been surveyed of course.

Hope you found what you were looking for.

Regards,
Mayfield

Hi Lorraine, Wisdom-soft.com looks quite safe, you will be OK with ScreenHunter 5 Free.

Hi Edward,

Well don't I feel a right wally! lol I was looking for Print screen on the pc on the toolbar. Never occured to me it was on the keyboard. Thank you. I will give that a try.

I was looking at a site called Wisdom-soft.com which offered a free download of Screenhunter. I have Norton security on the pc, so that usually sorts most things out for me.

Thank you so much for your help. I am learning more about this pc everyday! lol

Hi Elaine,

I do exactly as Mayfield suggests. I type in the house name or number into Google maps and select Street View. This then shows the particular property you are interested in, if it still exists today. I have been looking for houses in Wales lately, some of them still exist some don't. I managed to find a picture of the house that my 3 X Great Grandfather died in in 1887.

Best of luck,

Lorraine

Hi Elaine,
You need to go to the Google search page, click on the maps tab toward the top left of the Google page. Enter the location or postcode of the area you want to view in the search box thet opens with the maps page.

Best wishes,

Capture Express is a free download but it only works for 30 days then you have to pay to upgrade to keep it working but there are plenty of free-for-ever screen capture programs.

Hi Luckylainey, the Print Screen key is normally next to the Scroll Lock and Pause Break keys at the top right of your keyboard. Regarding the download warning, this might be an automatic response of your browser but not knowing the website or file involved I can't advise you. If you are downloading a file from a 'proper' freeware website the files should be guaranteed to be free from viruses and spyware. But you do need to have an up-to-date security program running on your computer!

Hello Edward,

Thank you for the tip re: the free downloads. I have just tried to download and get the message about unknown publisher and its it safe to download. I am not at all computer savvy. Is it okay to download any of these or should I avoid.

Many thanks for all your help,

Lorraine

Thank you all for your comments. I will have a go at the print screen option but also look into the Capture Express and other programs.

Have a good day,

Lorraine

P.S Must be having a blonde day as I cannot find the Print Screen option anywhere!

Google permits 'fair use' but refuses to say what constitutes fair use and will only say that it has to be decided by a court. It does seem strange that Google can photograph domestic properties, their owner and any passing pedestrians without consent then claim that there may be restrictions on how the images are used. I use a screen capture program called Capture Express but there are lots of free programs that can capture part or whole screen images, as well as the Print Screen key.

Good Morning,

Does anyone out there know if it is possible or even allowed to save the photos of houses or properties found in Street View on Google? I have found lots of houses that were once lived in by ancestors and have printed them off but do not know how to save to the pc or if this allowed due to copyright etc.

Many thanks Lainey
