Now folks, just think relatively,in 1974 ish I was paid around 96 p per hour.....which believe it or not was just after metrication...
(but when I changed jobs in1975,I got £1:18 per hour)

..and i recall petrol...

"pounds going up quicker than the gallons, on the petrol pump clock"

so thats about just over an hours' money for a gallon of petrol.......

at £1.33 per litre(*4.54 per gallon)=aprox £6.4p per gallon........

roundabout the minimum hourly rate?? but of course some peeps get paid more than that per hour.....and some (I guess,)a lot less.........
and of course many folks might not work 40 hours or more a week........

Don't be silly. The Government can't fix the price of petrol, they are only responsible for the tax element of it, though each time it goes up they get a bit more in VAT.

Remember, though, Gordon Brown was responsible for pushing up the price of motoring. And, where does all the money go? No, not much of it on roads at all, it goes towards paying off the debt that the said Gordon saddled the country with.
