Never grown one, but my book/bible says it needs support, and in spring to cut back stems to keep growth in check, don't know if that's any help :)

Cut it back slightly - I used to chop ours back as it went mad and unfortunately each time it had a haircut it went twice as fast.

My very friendly neighbour, before they moved out about 8 years ago,
planted russian vine along their back fence.........AND bamboo.........

which comes up in MY garden as if it belonged there.........any suggestions on how to kill it? at present I cut the shoot about 3 inches above ground level and using a hyperdermic needle( an ink replacement kit one) inject either vinegar( acetic acid) or battery acid into the shoot....

Hi Bob,

We too have neighbours Bamboo. I bought something from the Garden centre to 'deal' with the Bamboo. Only trouble is Bamboo is still growing while my beautiful flowering Cherry tree up and died. It obviously took up via the roots whatever it was I put on the Bamboo.

I wish I new a fail safe 'killer' for my Bamboo.
