Carol, glad you enjoyed looking at the site. You could maybe offer on that site I gave you, would make a new friend who lives there then.

I wouldn't go out to eat either if I had paid all in but as my o.h. is very fussy we don't go all in, as he would probably drink more than was good for him altho he hasn't had a drink for several months now.

I also like the choice of menus in various restaurants and also prefer to eat brekkie in my pjs so we always choose self catering but the most I will do is pour breakfast cereal or boil an egg lol

Have a great time, still not sure what we are doing.

Lizx, I have had a look at the site you gave me. It's good - thank you. Now there are shortcuts all over my screen for hubby to look at.
We've found some mozzie spray and got plenty of sun lotion, as the weather forecast says it is going to be nice and warm once we get there.
The hotel is 4 star all-in, so we will probably not go out to eat. OH doesn't see the point in paying to go elsewhere when he has already paid for all- in.

It is a pity no one wants anything taken out, we still have space for small items in the cases.

Willfly out Friday

Sorry Georgina, just came back on here - this is the site (below) and there is a list of different things to look at on the left hand side.

I didn't get to see Corfu town but went to several other places on trips and also walked to the next resort along from Roda. We always go self catering so we can eat when we please, with my strange sleep patterns I would miss breakfast times at hotels and sometimes I just like to potter about - being in an hotel room with no other space to be would drive my o.h. nuts lol
We had the problem with the airport in October - we don't go anywhere in high season as my o.h. can't cope with the heat so usually take our holidays in Sept or October but I would have liked to go earlier in the year to get the longer days.
I do love the Greek food tho and we tried a different restaurant almost every evening, enjoying walking round Roda deciding which one to pick each time, depending on the menus and special menus they showed. Once we had found a favourite we did go back a couple more times.
The only thing I had a big problem with was the mosquitoes, they were dreadful when we were there and despite insect repellent including the Avon Skin so soft one, I got several bites.

I do hope you have a great time and all the travelling goes smoothly. I am very bad at taking much more than I need to but will try harder this time, if we go as I don't want to be charged extra again.

Lisz, have just remembered. My cousin says it is quite unbearably hot there between mid-June and mid -September. They sort of 'hide' indoors and only go down to the beach in the late evening. So he comes over here, and avoids what he calls the tourists. He is English but has lived there a few years..

Liz47, don't forget - if you want anything just do a pm.
Liszx, We will be staying at the Hotel Louis Corcyra Beach, in Gouvia which is about 5 minutes bus ride from Corfu itself. It's a Thomson exclusive. We will then be doing a weeks cruise round the Aegean and flying back from Corfu. This is a very last minute booking - only 3 weeks ago.
I hate flying and I hate airports, but I cope. We went in early May 2 years ago and apart from it not being crowded, the weather was just right for us. We didn't have any problems with waiting at the airport but its not the nicest one we've been to. We stayed at the Hotel Corfu Chandris, another Thomson exclusive, just another 5 minutes up the road in Dassia.
It all depends what you are looking for in holidays. Us is old and not very mobile, and we don't do sunbathing or night clubs, but we do like to potter round in the evening. The Chandris grounds were lovely and the pool was quite large. Drinks were quite expensive I believe. I'm a very faddy eater, with problems, but was actually looking forward to my meals. but if you like sausage and chips etc you'd be out of luck. that may be why it only scored 82%. Weightwise, we have gradually mastered underpacking but haven't done a 2 week stint before. At least there are laundry rooms on the Thmson Spirit. Check them both out anyway, they may suit you.
I would like the site please. I can't visit my cousin this time as he will be here doing his own restocking. up and visiting. I may be able to help someone with something they miss. and things are expensive.
have to go, I'm still making holiday clothes,

hi Georgina, where are you staying? I had a good holiday there a couple of years ago and liked it a lot, alth the beaches weren't as nice as some places I have been. We are still undecided about whether to go back this year or not, we have to get passports renewed first. The return journey is a bit of a pain, the airport is so small that there is always a long wait to check in and you have to queue outside in a sort of holding area on the other side of the road, where there was just an expensive snack bar. Do remember to put on sun cream as you will be standing out in the open and a lot of people we queued with got burnt in the hour or so we stood waiting. Also take snacks and water with you. It was the worse part of the holiday, I always hate going home anyway but the hassle there made it so much harder. Also the scales are out, I was charged for being way over the weight limit but when I checked my bags when I got home, they weren't over at all.

You can read messages from people in Corfu or those travelling to Corfu, I will put the site on for you to look at later.

We're flying out to Corfu on 6th May. Is there anyone on GR who lives out there and would like small items brought out?
apart from a nice young Greek hunk, (who wouldn't fit into our baggage,)
would anyone like any small item brought back?
