If you had just edited your first post or added to the bottom it would have been picked up and would save people searching for info that had already been found. The reason you did'nt have any hits was because it would have gone off the page very quickly and it is up to you to get it to the top of the board again by adding new infomation

Search trees has been mentioned to you which is at the top of the page (Dark green bar)

You will find if you search the surname lists they are full of old posts from people that may not use the site anymore, thats why you should search the trees.
You may still find that they are no longer active as they may have changed their email address but if they hav'nt you can send a private message and they will recieve it, where as they will not see your message on the boards.
I would also like to add it is very unlikely anyone related to your family will see your posts in the near future, anyone helping does so because they enjoy the hobby

Will try to pose this question without confusing everyone. I know I am not supposed to start a new "trying to find" thread if it relates to someone I have already been searching for, but what if I want to search a new part of the family, using say that person's maiden name? If I continue on the same thread, using the married name, how will a person researching the maiden name find it?
I recently had immediate confirmation of who my g-grandmother was by starting a thread with her maiden name, which I only discovered that day, but got into strife for posting a new thread. I had no hits on my thread under her married name since February.
Maybe a researcher would have picked up on it if I had added the information to the married name search, but what about amateurs like me who browse the surname lists?
Please help, if you are not as confused as I am.
Kind regards,
Margaret
