Hi Chris
Can you refer back to the Chat board of 29 march, and my thread Gluten Free Diet? If not I will try to transfer the best bits to a pm for you.
Several people told me about supermarket free-from products, and I was given some nice recipes. Most of the stuff on the shelves is biscuity things which I don't bother with now. As-- do gf spaghetti and fusilli, which is good with Llo-Grsm sauces. Their own beans are gf but others aren't. I've found am 'organic chick pea and vegetable curry' which isn't bad with rice.
I wanted home made meals not shop made ones, so have had to learn by lengthy shoppping sessions and a notebook, where I record the things that work for me. I've had to give up sausage rolls, cake and biscuits - I can't be bothered to make them.
One of the best tips was contact the supermarket and ask for their list of gf foods. And get a simple book that tells you all the items you can safely eat and those that you can't. And there are a few surprises there. One excellent book is 'Easy gluten free cooking' by Rita Greer. It's £9.99 but I got mine on ebay for £3.
Sorry, I haven't tried a sponge cake. pm in post

Anyone have a tried and tested sponge cake recipe - gluten free. Realise I now need baking powder in this form. Have googled and there are lots of recipes.

Gson birthday next week and if I make the usual chocolate cake she is in trouble so thought I would try gluten free.

Chris

I have Coeliac disease You can get a lot of items on prescription, your doctor should have a list of these items.

Also google Coeliac their is a few good sites out thier that offer free samples of thier products, which again is quiet handy, as the food can work out quiet expensive
